Data Privacy and Security: Protecting Our Students

The Williamsville Central School District is committed to safeguarding the privacy and security of student, teacher, and principal data. In accordance with New York State Education Law § 2-d, our district strictly adheres to the standards required to protect personally identifiable information (PII) from unauthorized disclosure. Approved Supplemental Software for Instruction

To provide our students with a modern, engaging learning experience, Williamsville teachers utilize various digital tools and applications. Under NYS Ed Law 2-d, the District must vet every software platform that handles student PII to ensure it meets rigorous security standards. The list below contains approved supplemental software that has been legally cleared for use in our classrooms. Each of these tools has a signed Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) or is covered under a regional contract (such as through Erie 1 BOCES), ensuring that the vendor does not sell student data, uses encryption and secure storage and specifies how data is deleted once the contract ends.
