Student Data Privacy

Mountainburg Public Schools is proud to provide our students with access to some of the top technology-based learning tools and educational applications available.  Students will use these services daily to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers, and practice 21st-century digital citizenship skills.

Act 754: In accordance with the Student Data Vendor Security Act, school service providers must safeguard the privacy and security of student's personally identifiable information, and Districts must make information concerning the provider's use of this data available to parents.

COPPA: In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act, websites must provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information; however, with prior parental approval, COPPA permits a school district to consent on behalf of its students, thereby eliminating the need for parental consent to be given directly to each and every individual service provider.  For more information regarding COPPA, please visit https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/complying-coppa-frequently-asked-questions

Both of the above acts require that providers maintain the confidentiality of student information and provide a privacy policy outlining their practices.
